Error “The Specified Path for the Output File Doesn’t Exist”
Error “The Specified Path for the Output File Doesn’t Exist”
I normally run across this error with the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivables departments when they are trying to post their daily batches. The error is normally related to a mapped path issue but I have also seen it happen when a user loses privileges to the folder in the mapped path.
Resolving Broken Paths
The first thing I check is to see if the report is mapped to the correct folder. To find where the folder is mapped to click on Microsoft Dynamics -> Tools -> Setup -> Posting -> Posting. Once inside this window you need to make a selection in two drop down menus. First, select the appropriate series for the report you are having issues with. Second, select the appropriate origin that you are trying to produce a posting report for. Once the two drop downs are selected the bottom of the setup window will populate with the posting reports associated with your selection. Find the report that you are receiving the error on and click it to highlight it. While the report is highlighted click on the folder icon and browse to find the appropriate report for the posting and select it. This will remap your report and resolve the error.
Alot of times when I have selected the folder icon to browse for the report it will open in the same folder as shown in the setup window. At this point I will select the report by double clicking it and it will fix the error. For some reason the system will show the report mapped to the exact folder but it has lost sync with the file.
Rights to Mapped Path Folders
This error can also be caused when a user loses rights to the mapped path folders on the network. To remedy this issue I will try the following: Right Click Folder -> Security Tab -> Add the Client User . Once the changes have propagated through the folder the error should be resolved.
